So, it seemed Wangji still had the same hobbies as he did back during their cultivation days. That shouldn't have surprised Wuxian as much as did, but maybe he expected Wangji to have one hobby that came about after electricity was invented. He supposed music could technically count for that, though, and he had said besides music.

"That's cool. Um, I like... you know, video games, movies, things like that. Oh, and art. I like drawing." He rambled. He munched on his food as he finished talking. "I guess it's also kind of cool to look at." He added around a mouthful of food, a hand covering his mouth.

Lan Wangji was somewhat relieved to hear that at least Wei Wuxian's interest in art had remained. That at least had the potential to be something that they could bond over. While Lan Wangji was not particularly a visual artist outside of calligraphy, he certainly appreciated good art, and he could engage in a conversation about it.

Once he was done with a few more bites of food, he asked, "Are there any particular styles of art that you like especially? I admit to finding myself a little bit unsure of going to the on campus art exhibitions without company, but they do interest me."

He tried to leave that on an open tone, so that perhaps Wei Wuxian would express interest in going as well, or in showing him art. Lan Wangji just wanted something that showed that he did in fact have interest in interacting with his new roommate.

"I've been told I'm fairly good at hyper-realism." Wuxian said, acting as if he were bragging, but really, he didn't think so. "I also like drawing donghua style." He paused before adding, "I also occasionally draw like, landscapes, but that's almost solely for submitting things to art exhibitions." He smiled at it segued perfectly into what Wangji was talking about. "I actually have a piece in this upcoming exhibition, if you wanted to go together." He was hesitant to admit that, as his piece was one from his past. Not this life's past though, oh no. He had played with water color, and recreated the moment he and Lan Zhan had made paper lanterns together. The teacher adored it, especially the paper lantern in the main focus, with rabbits on it. It was daring to mention to Wangji, but if he didn't have his memories, who was to say he'd think anything of it? Although, he still had no idea whether Wangji had his memories or not.

Lan Wangji's heart rate picked up a little in nerves and excitement at the idea, but he kept his tone relatively level as he said, "I would like that if you are interested in having me come with you."

He was definitely curious to see Wei Wuxian's art in this life. That had been one of the things that had first endeared Wei Wuxian to him in their past life, and it seemed like a nice connection to make.

He focused on eating his food quietly, not sure yet what else to say. He watched Wei Wuxian though, trying to absorb the energy of his presence a little bit. He wanted to know more about this Wei Wuxian, but he did not entirely know how to go about forming that friendship.

"Yeah, sure. It'd be a blast." Wuxian replied absentmindedly. What was the harm, whether Wangji had his memories or not, of him seeing the picture. If he had his memories, then they were truly reunited, and if he didn't, well, he was still proud of how the picture turned out, especially since it was a medium he was unfamiliar with.

He finished his food quickly and looked over to Wangji, seeing he still had food on his plate. "I'm gonna check out the stir fry station. Don't leave without me, okay?" He told Wangji.

Lan Wangji gave Wei Wuxian a small smile when he agreed that they could go together. He was looking forward to it tentatively, so he hoped that Wei Wuxian actually meant it. It was not as though they actually knew each other yet this life, so there was no guarantee that Wei Wuxian would want to spend significant time around him.

It was somewhat reassuring to have Wei Wuxian ask him to wait, so he nodded politely and replied, "I will be here."

He focused on eating his food carefully, at a steady pace. It was nice to feel like Wei Wuxian did not want him to leave without him.

Wuxian nodded at the affirmation that Wangji wouldn't leave him, and went to check out the stir fry station. Even though he wasn't hungry at the moment, it looked like it'd make a really good meal later. He scooped up some pork and chicken, and then some vegetables, very excited to see lotus root among the options, and then for the soup base ordered the spiciest option, and handed it to the person to cook it. As he waited, he rocked back and forth, his eyes wandering back to Wangji. He gave his new roommate a wave and a smile.

Wuxian found Wangji just as easy to get along with in this life, which probably was not something people often said when meeting Wangji, in either life. He just hoped Wangji was willing to tolerate him long enough to consider him a friend this time.

Lan Wangji did not mean to track Wei Wuxian with his eyes the entire time that his new roommate was not at the table, but it did mean that he was looking right at him when Wei Wuxian waved. He very uncertainly waved back, slightly uncomfortable that he had been caught staring, but even as he tried to focus on his food again, he found himself watching Wei Wuxian as he waited for his food to be done.

He finished while Wei Wuxian was still waiting for his food, and he carefully stacked his plates on his tray, separating it out so it would be easy to put things in the correct bins when he was done with it. He figured that Wei Wuxian would be back soon, but he did not mind waiting, and he had told Wei Wuxian that he would stay there, so he was not going to go tidy away his tray until after Wei Wuxian got back.

Wuxian finally got his food, placed into a to-go container as he requested, and he thanked the worker and returned to the table. "Thanks for waiting." He said to Wangji with a grin. "It looks like you're ready, so shall we head back to the dorm?" He asked, picking up his own tray with his free hand.

Lan Wangji stood, nodding. He was relieved that they were ready to head out now because the dinning hall was just starting to get more crowded. He stuck close to Wei Wuxian as they headed to the drop off for their dishes, and when they got there, he was efficient with his things.

He turned to Wei Wuxian, expecting him to be trying to juggle everything he was holding and asked, "Do you need me to hold anything?"

Wuxian tried to hide he was struggling to get everything sorted properly but Wangji caught on to him anyway. "Uh yeah." He said with a sheepish laugh. He handed Wangji the to go container and got all the trash and dishes in their proper spots before taking back the container. "Thank you." He said, giving the other man a smile. He turned and made an enthusiastic step forward, "Back to unpacking, I guess." He said, looking back to make sure his roommate was following.

Lan Wangji carefully held the box for Wei Wuxian, watching the disorganized way he put everything away. It all got where it needed to go eventually, but Lan Wangji was honestly perplexed, even though he did not mind watching how Wei Wuxian did things. He handed the box back when Wei Wuxian was done, and followed, right beside and a little bit behind, as Wei Wuxian turned to leave.

He was a little startled when Wei Wuxian turned back and checked that he was still there. Putting them a little closer together than Lan Wangji had meant to get them. He nodded though when Wei Wuxian mentioned that he was going to return to packing and said, "Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help you settle in to our room."

He hoped that Wei Wuxian would not mind him watching a bit while he unpacked. It seemed a little bit strange, but he was curious about how Wei Wuxian would do things.

Wuxian nodded, slowing down a bit so they were walking in pace with each other. "I think I'm mostly settled. But I'll keep that in mind. All I have left is what I dumped on the bed prior to us getting food." He tried remember what that all entailed, but his mind was just coming up with a pile blob he knew existed on his bed. He was pretty sure there was still some clothes, and perhaps a few more books of the not-school type.

Lan Wangji did not say anything to Wei Wuxian's statement of it not being much, but he did slightly raise an eyebrow. He had seen the mess that Wei Wuxian had dumped on his bed, and to his view, there was a lot of it, and it was extremely disorganized. That being said, this was Wei Wuxian, and his view of disorganized was obviously different from Lan Wangji's.

He walked beside Wei Wuxian as they headed back to their dorm. It gave him a small warm feeling to have Wei Wuxian have matched their paces so that they could easily walk together. He knew that he probably should make conversation. It was fairly obvious that in this life Wei Wuxian thrived off interactions with others as much as he had in the past, but just like in his past life, Lan Wangji struggled with finding words.

As they approached their dorm building, Lan Wangji glanced over at Wei Wuxian, trying to judge if he had started to bore the other man with his silence.

Wuxian was still trying to figure Wangji out. He seemed pretty similar to how he had been in the past, which meant he was quiet and reserved. It was only as they were approaching the dorms again that Wuxian realized he had also been quiet the entire walk back, absorbed in thought and a familiar, comfortable silence. They had technically just met but their interactions were so comfortable and normal to him that Wuxian had to remind himself this was a different life.

As they re-entered the dorm, he put his stir fry in the mini fridge and looked at the mound on his bed. "Argh, too much." He grumbled to himself, shaking his head. He took an armful of various-items-but-mostly-clothes and unceremoniously dumped them at the bottom of his wardrobe, making sure he could close the doors before doing so and approaching a pile of mostly books. "You'd really think they'd provide more bookshelf than our desks..." He mused, putting a couple piles of books under his bed.

Now all that was left was some sketchbooks and his flute. He casually flipped through one of the sketchbooks, landing on a drawing he had done of Jiang Cheng and Yanli at one point in the recent past. "Oy, Lan Zhan-" He really had to stop doing that. But it came too naturally. So far, Wangji hadn't seemed to notice, and he could only hope it continued. Even if Wangji even had the name Lan Zhan in this life, he had no reason to know it yet. "Do you want to see a picture of my siblings I drew? If you like it, I can draw a picture of you." He said, grinning and only half joking.
