((TW: Hints of physical abuse, mental abuse mentions. Mention of suicide.))
Mo Xuanyu the basics Mo Xuanyu • nicknames • none age • 15 birthday • January 2, 2005 occupation • student relationship status • single gender • he/him sexuality • homosexual has memories • some the appearance face claim • He Xinlong height and weight • 5'7" (173 cm) & 130 lbs (59 kg) identifying features • multiple small scars along his body overall appearance • Xuanyu is slightly taller than average height, and is fairly skinny. He keeps his hair at a moderate length, partly due to his aunt not letting him grow it out and partly because it's easier to maintain (or so he's told himself). Though he's debated dying his hair, the one time he tried, he got in serious trouble and was forced to shave his head, so that's not happening again (at least not until he's out of the house). His clothes tend to be well worn, and a lot of his pants are cuffed at the bottom to hide they're too short for him. A lot of his clothes tend to run in darker colors, and he has a preference for black clothing. the personality likes • Anime, Kpop, Chinese dramas, BL Dramas, photography, calligraphy, watching TikToks dislikes • his family, those weird nightmares he gets sometimes (read: his past life memories), bigots, homophobia strengths • smart, quick-witted weaknesses • physically weak, sensitive towards bullying/abuse dreams • to move out and live a life that never requires him to see his aunt and her family again fears • never making it out of the house. overall personality • Xuanyu is fairly quiet, and tries to not be noticed in his every day life. He has a very small friend circle, and even those friends are almost solely school friends. Although he's mentally strong and determined to get out of his situation at home, he feels pretty hopeless sometimes. Even though he's smart, to the point he's been taking courses at Stanford under a gifted program, he still worries that he'll graduate from college and have to move back in with his family. He views college as his ticket to freedom from his family, and he just hopes he can make it happen. He's very determined, but his aunt and her family have convinced him he is useless and crazy. the history father • Jin Guangshan, 52, CEO of an advertising company mother • Mo Meilin, deceased at 30 (2017), worked at Jin Guangshan's advertising company siblings • none (*to his knowledge) important people • aunt, Mo Meishi, 37 (1983), housewife; uncle, Wang Shuntao, 40 (1980), CEO of a tech company; cousin, Mo Ziyuan, 17 (2003), student hometown • Palo Alto, CA overall history • Xuanyu never knew his father growing up. Apparently his father still visited up until he got to about age four, but Xuanyu doesn't remember that, and four doesn't count as being "grown up," so he doesn't count it. He proved gifted and got into a top private school from first grade on. As he got older, he realized his getting into an esteemed school helped his mother get back into her family's good graces after getting knocked up by her boss. In middle school, as Xuanyu came to realize his sexuality, he started to feel more out of place in school. He went to a heavily religious private school, and he got teased enough just because he was quiet and sensitive. In a moment of bravery, he confessed to a classmate, and it became such a big scene he ended up expelled (the school of course didn't phrase it that way, but he knew). His mother, ashamed and disappointed, committed suicide. He was sent to live with his aunt and uncle and their son. Even though they were the legal guardians, his aunt and uncle never liked Xuanyu or his mother, and now they couldn't get rid of him. They were especially upset because unlike their son's very average school career, Xuanyu was comparatively a genius. They made him go to the same school as his cousin, who immediately told his friends that his cousin was gay, though through much harsher language. Xuanyu began getting bullied at school, and then he'd come home to an aunt and uncle who tore apart his achievements and punished him if he brought even one toe out of line. Eventually, a teacher noticed Xuanyu's excellent grades and constant boredom and told him about Stanford's high school program. After much fighting, he convinced his aunt and uncle if they let him do this he wouldn't ask for anything else. He'd get a job if he had to to pay for the things he wanted. The 20-21 school year was his first year in the program, and he's enjoying the college atmosphere. the role player alias • Redeim age • 31 pronouns • he/him code • the one in the rules which version did you see • novel/drama/donghua other characters • Wei Wuxian, Zizhen Stone, Lan Xichen |
